For me, every week is Negroni Week, but today kicks off the official Negroni Week (September 18 - 24), the global activation from Imbibe magazine and Campari where participating bars and restaurants offer some of their favorite Negroni variations with a portion of sales donated to charitable causes. For the second year in a row, this year’s Negroni Week official giving partner is Slow Food, whose Slow Food Negroni Week Fund supports a global movement of local communities and activists, across more than 160 countries, which aims to help change the world through food and beverage.
For the occasion, I wanted to share my essay, “Slow Down and Sip a Negroni,” which originally appeared in the September/October 2022 print issue of Imbibe. And I encourage you to pick up a copy of their current Negroni Week issue, featuring a deep dive on the Milano-Torino (with some insights from yours truly), a Q&A with Molly Baz, Wayne Curtis on the Millionaire Cocktail, a RTD Negroni roundup, a profile of Asheville brewer Oscar Wong, Amy Bess Cook on Appalachian apple country, and more.
And, for your reading pleasure, here are a few more pieces of mine on the subject of Italy’s iconic, equal-parts export:
“With Endless Variations, When Is a Negroni No Longer a Negroni?” (VinePair)
“The Negroni Sbagliato: My Favorite Mistake” (LAST CALL)
What is your favorite Negroni variation?
